Two common ways of coating with zinc: First is hot dipping the cleaned steel/iron in molten zinc, the other method is by electro-plating the zinc from acidified zinc sulfate or from potassium zinc cyanide baths. I don’t know the required voltage. This reference is old; there may be better ways to do it now.
